Europe Stocks Open Higher Ahead Of Central Bank Meetings

European markets opened higher Tuesday, as earnings continue to dominate stock action and investors brace for U.K. and U.S. central bank decisions.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 index was 0.24% higher at 8:05 a.m. in London, with most sectors in the green.

Shares of Standard Chartered jumped 5.5% after the U.K. bank announced its biggest-ever share buyback, of $1.5 billion, and raised its outlook in half-year results.

Oil major BP was up 1.8% after hiking its dividend, as it beat second-quarter earnings estimates.
