The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.4% higher at 2,871.55 in Shanghai.
Kweichow Moutai Co. contributed the most to the index gain, increasing 0.7%. Hubei Mailyard Share Co. had the largest increase, rising 10.2%.
In early trading, 1,926 of 2,212 shares rose, while 225 fell; 3 of 5 sectors were higher, led by industrial stocks.
