Hang Seng Index Falls 0.4%; Meituan Leads Decline

The Hang Seng Index opened 0.4% lower at 17,019.84 in Hong Kong.

Meituan contributed the most to the index decline, decreasing 2.4%. Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd. had the largest drop, falling 4.2%.

In early trading, 53 of 82 shares fell, while 27 rose; 3 of 4 sectors were lower, led by commerce and industry stocks.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.3% lower, dropping 7.5 to 2,854.69, as stocks lose for the second straight day in Shanghai.

China Telecom Corp. contributed the most to the index decline, decreasing 1.4%. Daqian Ecology & Environment Group Co. had the largest drop, falling 10.0%.

In early trading, 1,635 of 2,215 shares fell, while 477 rose; 4 of 5 sectors were lower, led by industrial stocks.
