The Hang Seng Index opened 0.1% higher, climbing 17.66 to 17,587.23, as stocks gain for the third straight day in Hong Kong.
HSBC Holdings Plc contributed the most to the index gain, increasing 0.8%. Li Ning Co. had the largest increase, rising 3.1%.
In early trading, 42 of 82 shares rose, while 33 fell; 2 of 4 sectors were higher, led by finance stocks.
The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.3% lower at 2,883.69 in Shanghai.
PetroChina Co. contributed the most to the index decline, decreasing 0.9%. Shanghai MicroPort Endovascular MedTech Group Co. had the largest drop, falling 12.0%.
In early trading, 1,515 of 2,222 shares fell, while 527 rose; all sectors were lower, led by industrial stocks.
